Trees…A Wise Investment in the FutureDave Guide Photo-small

The poet Alexander Smith once quoted, “Trees are your best antiques” and Sunrise Recreation & Park District has made a commitment to providing more trees in our parks for generations to come. We are moving forward with a goal to plant 100 new trees every year for the next 10 years. Within the last year Sunrise has planted trees in Brooktree, Lone Oak, Pokelma, Antelope Station and Tempo parks. Next up: Tupelo, Rusch, and Rushmore Jeanine parks!

In a decade there will be 1,000 new trees within our 46 parks and open spaces. To accomplish this goal, we will once again work with our partner the Sacramento Tree Foundation as well as local nurseries, various
service organizations and neighbors to obtain the trees, materials, and for assistance in planting.

Another aspect of this program is hearing from you. As we move forward with our tree planting goal, I would invite you to contact me directly with ways additional trees would benefit your local park.

Please feel free to send an email to sunrise@sunriseparks.com and let me know how we can improve our urban canopy within your park.
