Senior Activities & Special Events
Sunrise Recreation and Park District offers a variety of classes and activities for all ages, including ages 50+. Most of these classes and programs are currently held at Rusch Park Community Center, located at 7801 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610
In order to receive discounts and participate in district programs, a $25 Annual Membership is required. Memberships are based on calendar year.

Cards and Games
These groups meet once a week year-round and they welcome new players. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual and they play only for the love of the game.
Tuesday Group – This group plays at Foothill Community Center from 11:00am – 3:00pm.
Wednesday Group – This group plays at Foothill Community Center from 9:00am – 1:00pm.
Friday Group – This group plays at Rusch Park Community Center, Sunrise Room from 10:00am – 3:00pm. Fore more information please call 521-6556. Intermediate players welcome
Single Deck Pinochle (Tuesday Group)
Pinochle players are a committed group who always enjoy a challenge. New players are welcome. However, some knowledge of the game is necessary. This group plays at Rusch Park Patio Room from 12:00 – 3:00pm.
Double Deck Pinochle (Wednesday Group)
Take it to the next level and give Double Deck a try! This group plays at Rusch Park Patio Room from 12:00 – 3:00pm.
Scrabble (Monday Group)
Play Scrabble in a friendly atmosphere? This group meets once a week and welcomes new players. Although knowledge of the game is helpful, it is not necessary. For more information, please call 745-3579, this group plays at Rusch Park Sunrise Room from 12:30 – 3:30pm.

Tommie’s Beginning Happy Tappers

Rusch Park Travel Social Events
These free events are all offered at Rusch Park Community Center on Thursdays from 10:00am – 11:00am in Classroom #1. These social events allow the community to get to know each other before the departure of their upcoming trip. There will be travel videos shown along with refreshments and door prizes!! Services for Older Adults
Meals on Wheels by Asian Community Center (ACC) Congregate Meal Program
This program provides a hot and nutritious lunch for any older adult, 60 years of age or older. Seniors who are interested in participating in this program are encouraged to sign up at Rusch Park Community Center, 7801 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA 95610.Check-in at 11:30am. Lunches served at 11:45am.
There is a suggested $2.00 donation for 60+ or a $7.50 charge for anyone under the age of 60, unless accompanied by their 60+ spouse. Reservations must be made, please call 801-7019.
Transportation Services to Lunch Sites
Provided by ACC, rides are available for anyone 60+ participating in the lunch program. If you do not drive and have no other transportation options, please call 393-9026. Space is limited.
Meals on wheels by ACC Provides Home Delivered Meals
This service delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors within our district. For more information, please call 444-9533 or Click Here to visit their website.
Health Insurance Counseling & Advocacy Program (HICAP) HICAP Services of Northern California (HSNC)
This service assists individuals and families with Medicare problems and other health insurance concerns. Through individual appointments and through community education, volunteer counselors who are registered provide objective information on Medicare, Medicare supplemental insurance, managed care, long-term care planning and health insurance. Eligible callers can receive a free telephone consultation with an attorney or paralegal. If no one is available to answer immediately, an appointment is made for an advocate to call with two days. Toll Free (800) 222-1753 or call (916) 551-2140.
Minor Home Modifications
This service provides home repairs or modifications for low-income elderly homeowners. Recipients receive a home safety assessment and safety devices, such as grab bars and shower assist units. Call (916) 455-1880.

Widowed Persons Association of California

AARP Driver Safety Course
