Youth Sports Programs

The purpose of the Sunrise Recreation and Park District’s youth sports programs is to guide each participant – boys and girls – through an organized program and to develop the fundamentals of each sport and promote team play through teaching, training, and sportsmanship. Volunteer to Coach

Show your community support by coaching young athletes. If you are proficient in any sport or are willing to learn, donating three to five hours of your time each week is all that is needed. For more information, please contact Todd at (916) 725-0186.

Youth Sports Camps, Clinics and Classes

Throughout the year, Sunrise Recreation and Park District offers a variety of youth camps, clinics and classes.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn and solidify the fundamentals of sports while participating in weekly, organized practices and games.

Junior Giants Baseball

Junior Giants is a free, non competitive program for boys and girls ages 5-13.  In addition to the fundamentals of baseball, the Junior Giants program focuses on the four bases of character development: Confidence, Integrity, Leadership and Teamwork. It’s a great start for those who have never played and a fun experience for those who have.  Participants will have one practice and one game per week. Registration is April 15-May 15, 2017.

Middle School Sports Leagues

2016-17 Sports Calendar

The Middle School Sports Alliance is made up of schools in the Sunrise, Carmichael and Orangevale Recreation and Park District’s. Through organized league play, participants will sharpen their skills while learning the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. Whatever your child chooses, they will be taught the fundamentals of the sport.  Skill development will be stressed throughout the season and participants will receive a basic understanding of rules, sportsmanship and teamwork by the end of the season.


Flag Football (12-14 years)

This program will provide a fun opportunity to engage in continuous action, while learning fundamental skills.  All team practices and games will be held at Rusch Park.

Volleyball League (6th-8th grades)

This program is designed to encourage teens to develop both physically and socially. Participants will sharpen their skills while learning the importance of sportsmanship and fair play. Athletes will practice after school at Kingswood, Sylvan, Lichen and Woodside. League games will be held at La Sierra Community Center.

Youth Sports Organizations

In addition to the youth sports leagues and activities provided by the Sunrise Recreation & Park District, we also partner with private youth sports organizations who utilize our fields and facilities for practices and games. Click here for contact information.

Foothill Golf Course
